Doing a quick check-up on your heating and air conditioning, may give you an idea of what the problem is. Here are a few things to check:

Air Filters - Change your air filters on a regular basis, an air filter that is clogged, just makes your system work harder because it restricts air-flow. And you're probably paying more for the energy it takes to keep your home comfortable.
Airflow - Your heating and air conditioning unit should have nothing on top of it, and at least a foot of clear space around it. It needs to breathe, and if there is poor airflow the unit can become damaged.
Base - Check the base of your outdoor unit for standing water or ice. The support base could have settled or shifted since installation it may no longer be level. If it’s not level, you must make sure you have proper drainage.
